Re-converting to the Orthodox Christian faith

I wanted to tell everyone I “found” the Orthodox Church like it was a million dollars! My return to the Orthodox Church was only a beginning of a journey, but at least now I knew the path. I compare it to living on a patch of dirt your whole life and never knowing that right underneath this dirt there is a well with hidden treasures of indescribable beauty.

A Journey Of Faith In New Zealand

by Alexandra Wood When I was a little girl it was still possible to teach Scripture in schools and even people who did not attend church were happy for their children to be taught. I remember as a child of eight or nine that I pictured in my mind one night the Mount of Olives […]

by Fr. Joseph Huneycutt I’m a Southerner. I was born and reared a Southern Baptist; educated as an Episcopalian, and converted to Orthodox Christianity a decade ago. Since then, I’ve been struggling to be Orthodox. As a missionary priest, I’ve also struggled to bring others to Orthodoxy in the South. More than anything, I’ve learned […]

My Conversion to Eastern Orthodoxy

June 11, 2010 By admin 2 Comments

As was St. Vladimir over a thousand years ago, I found myself deeply moved by the beauty and reverence of the Orthodox liturgy. The focus of the liturgy is quite clearly the worship of the awesome Creator before whom we stand in humble supplication, asking His mercy upon us. This was often in sharp contrast with the mood (though, to be fair, not necessarily with the theological understanding) of most Protestant church services which I had attended over the years where the latest programs (or fads) or preferences of the local minister too often dictated the format and style of the service.
