Scripture in the Divine Liturgy

This little collection of quotes just scratches the surface of the Biblical quotations in Liturgy.

In fact, the entire liturgy is practically composed of quotations and direct allusions to verses from the Bible. For a more comprehensive treatment, get the book “DIVINE LITURGY: A Student Study Text” which contains Scriptures references and Patristic quotations on worship.

“If you like the Bible, you’ll love the Orthodox liturgy. If the Scriptures are a fountain of water, Liturgy is like putting your mouth to a firehose.”
