December 5, 2014. Metropolitan Ignatius of Khabarovsk and Outer Manchuria ordained Anatoly Kun (Kun Cheun Min), a part time student of the Khabarovsk Theological Seminary, as a deacon during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral on December 5, 2014.
The Information Department of the Khabarovsk Diocese has reported that Deacon Anatoly Kun was ordained with the blessing of His Holiness, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, in order to serve at the Orthodox parish in honor of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Hong Kong (China). Archpriest Dionysius Pozdnyaev, Rector of the St. Peter-Paul Parish, took part in the Divine Liturgy, who had come for this purpose from Hong Kong.
“I am very glad about this event. Father Anatoly is the first cleric from Hong Kong,” Archpriest Dionysius Pozdnyaev commented on the ordination. “He speaks Russian and English, but I will ask him to serve more in Cantonese and Mandarin – the Chinese dialects that are the most popular in Hong Kong. Father Anatoly will also have missionary and catechesis tasks aimed primarily at the Chinese of Hong Kong and Continental China.”
