Growing up I was raised no particular religion and like most modern American families, religion or spirituality in general never played a role in my life up to this particular point in my young life. My father although baptized a Roman Catholic was non-practicing and not even a Christian anymore, my mother was a non-practicing Baptist. My grandmother who I lived with most my life was a devout Roman Catholic from the Philippines but that was the limit of my exposure.
