Patriarch Bartholomew Consecrates Restored Church in Constantinople Orthodox Cemetery

The consecration of the restored historic Church of the Transfiguration in the Sisli Orthodox cemetery in Constantinople was celebrated by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on October 22, reports Sedmitza. The first Divine Liturgy in the newly-consecrated church was then concelebrated by Pat. Bartholomew and fifteen other hierarchs. The service was attended by the Consul General of Greece in Constantinople and numerous clergy and faithful from Turkey and abroad. 1,000-strong Mass Infant Baptism to be Celebrated in Bulgaria

1,000 infants will be united to the Body of Christ through the Sacrament of holy Baptism tomorrow in cities throughout Bulgaria, reports the site of the Bulgarian Patriarchate. The mass Baptism is part of the national campaign “Do It For Bulgaria,” in support of birthgiving, to help shift the tide of the nation’s rapidly declining birth rate. Bulgaria is currently experiencing the most extreme population decline in the world, due to a combination of post-communist emigration, high death rates, and low birth rates. Russian Orthodox Church will be Built in Kabul, Afghanistan
