Converting and coming back is understandable. Like all cults, Protestants are deceitful with the Bible and use certain passages only. They do not know about or care about the history of Christianity and the Early Fathers of the Church. When I was a Protestant, I never heard about the Early Fathers.
I am on my way to Orthodoxy. Please pray for the Lord to open the door for me so I can get in the Church. Things are blocking my path right now.

Edward Hara, mine was a similar path, stay faithful and keep moving, I am on my 5th year as an Orthodox Christian

Protestants (Evangelicals) tend to ignore the historical context of the Bible and apply certain verses to themselves. They also misuse verses so as to attack other people with those verses, including Eastern Orthodox Christians. You’re right about them rejecting the church fathers, church history, and all the Holy Traditions. They rely on Sola Scriptura (Bible-only). Every Evangelical turns into their own pope so they end up having their own personal interpretation of their Scriptures which is why there’s thousands of denominations.
So what’s “blocking” your path to joining Eastern Orthodoxy?

Just remember, we’ve been there ourselves, and we not only understand – we are here to help.

If we could get the Church Fathers into our municipal and school libraries, Protestantism would be extinct within two or three generations or all but.

This was so powerful. I still feel as if it cannot happen for me.

Brian, the only thing keeping you from it… is you. Don’t let the time get away from you. Now is the appointed time. Today is the day of salvation.

Thank you, Father. My wife is completely opposed so please pray

Pray for her, answer questions (if any) with short answers, and be a better, stronger husband – and let the Holy Spirit do the work. He will help you, and your movement into Orthodoxy, though slow, will be sure.

Coming from an atheist background and converted to Orthodox Christianity, I have been in all churches in my journey including protestants where I never felt I’m in a church. In my being unsure stage I was hesitant between Orthodox Church and Catholic church. Protestant church never came as an option to my mind.

A story about being a strong and faithful Orthodox husband. My brother is an Orthodox priest. A few years ago a man came to him wanting to be received into the Church from a Protestant background. His wife wanted nothing to do with the Church. My brother met with the man and his wife. She agreed not to oppose his reception into the Church if her husband promised he would not talk about the Church to her or have any Orthodox reading material in their home. He agreed and was received into the Church. Several years went by and the man felt called to the diaconate. Once again my brother met with the man and his wife, she agreed on one condition, that she be Christmated. She had seen such a change in her husband that she wanted what he had.

My brother is an Orthodox priest. Some years ago he had a Protestant gentleman come to him seeking entry into the Church. His wife was opposed. She did agree to sit down with her husband and my brother to listen to why her husband wanted to become Orthodox. At the end, she gave her blessing for him to be received in one condition: he would make no effort to convert her including having no Orthodox materials in their home. He agreed.
A few years later the gentleman felt called to the diaconate. A similar process ensued. At the end of the conversation, she agreed on one condition: that she be Chrismated.

This Father John’s recommendation.
